The Department of Housing (DOH) works to make Connecticut communities stronger and better places to live. DOH aims to end homelessness and to build, preserve, and promote affordable housing for people across the state. Our goal is to make sure everyone in Connecticut — no matter their income — has a safe, quality place to call home.
DOH partners with municipal leaders, public agencies, community groups, local housing authorities, and other housing developers to:
- Plan and develop affordable homes and rental housing units across the state
- Preserve existing multi-family housing developments
- Provide support for our most vulnerable residents through funding and technical support programs
As the State's lead housing authority, DOH provides leadership for all aspects of policy and planning. Through our programs, we:
- Manage the development, redevelopment, preservation, maintenance, and improvement of housing for very low, low, and moderate income individuals and families
- Oversee compliance of State-funded activities with applicable statutes, regulations, and financial assistance agreements
