• 4/22/2019 Environmental Conservation Police Arrest Two in Connection with Vandalism, Container Fires at Silver Sands State Park

  The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (EnCon) Environmental Conservation Police arrested two individuals in connection with the vandalism and fire that occurred on Sunday, March 24, 2019 at Silver Sands State Park in Milford.

• 8/5/2020 DEEP Advises Against Contact Recreation in CT River over next 48 hours due to Massachusetts Sewage Release

  The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) has been advised that hundreds of thousands of gallons of combined untreated stormwater and sewage has been released into the Chicopee River in Springfield, which feeds into the Connecticut River. As a precaution, DEEP advises against contact recreation in the Connecticut River north of the city of Middletown over the next 48 hours.

  In a letter Tuesday, DEEP Commissioner Katie Dykes rejected a plan submitted by the Materials Innovation and Recycling Authority (MIRA) for presenting a “false choice, and a bad deal” for taxpayers across the state, Hartford residents, and the environment.

  (HARTFORD) - The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) announced its fourth annual Pop of Color Outdoor Quilt Show returns to the Kellogg Estate, 500 Hawthorne Ave, Derby, CT, from Thursday, July 25 – Sunday, July 28, 2024, 10:00 a.m.– 4:00 p.m. Visitors can enjoy viewing a diverse collection of quilts hung to decorate the historic gardens and grounds. Reservations are not needed.

• 12/23/2024 DEEP and Connecticut Green Bank Announce Funding and Low-Interest Financing Available for Electric School Buses

  (HARTFORD)- The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) and the Connecticut Green Bank (Green Bank) have announced the availability of a $46 million pool of state and federal funding to support the deployment of electric school buses (ESBs) and the associated charging infrastructure. Municipalities, school districts, and school bus transportation companies are eligible and encouraged to apply by January 7, 2025.

  Governor Ned Lamont today announced that he is nominating Marissa Paslick Gillett of Baltimore, Maryland to serve as a commissioner of the Connecticut Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA), the state entity responsible for regulating the rates and services of Connecticut’s investor-owned electricity, natural gas, water, and telecommunications companies.
