Connecticut law requires employers to post anti-discrimination notices in prominent areas and to provide training to educate their employees about their rights. State law also requires the inclusion of a fair housing notice in the sale of any property with two or more residential units. Are you an employer with 3 or more employees? State law requires that you post a notice in a prominent area accessible to your employees explaining rights and remedies for victims of sexual harassment.

Required sexual harassment prevention training and more

In addition to the posting requirements, State law requires all employers with 3 or more employees provide 2 hours of sexual harassment prevention training to all employees. Employers with less than 3 employees still need to provide the training to all supervisory employees.

To help employers meet their legal obligations, CHRO provides a free sexual harassment prevention training online and on-demand. The training covers how to report harassment and what employers should do after someone makes a report. This training outlines the rules for behavior at work and details what is not allowed. The training provides a certificate of completion at the end.

Domestic violence information training from CHRO and more

State law requires that all state agencies with 1 or more employees provide their employees with 1 hour of training relating to domestic violence and the resources available to victims of domestic violence.

The domestic violence prevention training requirement only applies to state agencies. Private employers are still required to post the domestic violence notice provided on this page, but are not required to provide the 1 hour training. CHRO still makes it publicly accessible for all.

If you are selling a property with 2 or more residential units, you must attach CHRO’s Fair Housing Notice to the sales contract. The buyer must review and sign the notice before the sale can move forward.

CHRO offers a live Fair Housing training online every few months. While this training is not mandatory, if you are a housing provider or a tenant, we strongly recommend that you attend to learn your rights and obligations.
