• Earn Continuing Education Credits for Building Code Enforcement Official Licensure and Fire Official Certification

  Building Code Enforcement Officials and Fire Officials are required to earn continuing education credits to maintain their license or certification. The number of credits needed is based on the credential. All training cycles are three-years in length.

• Building and Fire Code Modifications, Exemptions and Waivers

  The Office of the State Building Inspector and the Office of the State Fire Marshal review requests for modifications to the State Building Code and State Fire Safety Code, as well as the codes and regulations that apply to elevators and boilers etc.

• File School Construction Change Orders

  All school construction change orders or construction change directives must conform to the terms and conditions outlined in the Change Directives Bulletin dated 4/21/16, and the Bulletin of Common Change Order Ineligibilities dated 2/10/16.

• School Construction Progress Payments

  The Office of Grants Administration processes payment requests for eligible school districts with projects that have been approved for State grant commitments. Payments are batched monthly and are paid electronically.

• DAS Procurement Contracting: An Overview

  The Department of Administrative Services/Procurement Division (DAS) is charged with the purchasing, leasing and contracting for products and services for State of Connecticut executive branch agencies, including information system and telecommunication system facilities, equipment and services.

  To become a certified Fire Code Inspector or a certified Fire Investigator, you can either take a training course or take an examination.

  The Plan Review Department has developed a set of requirements for obtaining Plan Approval for School Construction Projects.

• Posting School Construction Project Bids to State Contracting Portal

  Pursuant to Connecticut General Statutes Sec. 4b-91(a), contracts for construction, reconstruction, alteration, remodeling, repair or demolition of any public building or public works by a public agency paid for in whole or in part with state funds and estimated to cost more than five hundred thousand dollars shall be awarded to a bidder that is prequalified pursuant to Conn. Gen. Stat. Sec. 4a-100 after the public agency has invited such bids by notice posted on the State Contracting Portal ("Portal").

• Audit Building and Fire Official Pre-Credential Training Programs for Continuing Education Credit

  For building code enforcement officials and fire officials who want to be retrained in a particular area, there are limited seats available in OEDM’s Pre-Licensure Training Program and Pre-Certification Training Program.
