  The Department of Social Services is strongly committed to identifying and eliminating fraud, whether it be committed by a client, provider or vendor.

• HIPAA Information

  Client information at DSS is protected by federal and state laws and regulations. This section contains copies of these laws and regulations, the DSS Privacy Policy and official DSS forms related to your privacy rights.

• Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT)

  Medicaid Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) is an important benefit for Medicaid members who need to get to and from Medicaid-covered medical services but have no means of transportation.

• Money Follows the Person

• Food Assistance - Farmers' Markets, Farms and Farm Stands

  Many Farmers' Markets and Farm Stands throughout Connecticut now can accept EBT/SNAP (Formerly known as Food Stamps). This means you will once again be able to buy locally grown fruits and vegetables that arrive more quickly and fresher than those transported long distances from other states and countries.

• Autism Spectrum Disorder - ASD

  The Department of Social Services Waiver for Persons with Autism provides home-and community-based services to individuals with autism who do not have an intellectual disability (a full IQ score of 70 or higher).

• Medicaid State Plan Amendments

  Current State Plan Amendments submitted to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

  The InCK Model will assist states and local communities in addressing priority health concerns for children.

• Report Vendor Fraud or Abuse

  Provider or Vendor Fraud is an “intentional” deception or misrepresentation which results in an unearned benefit to a provider or vendor, usually in the form of an excess payment, through the Medical Assistance Programs.

• Connecticut Home Care Program for Elders (CHCPE)

  This program provides services to help eligible residents live in the community. Eligible applicants must be 65 years of age or older, be at risk of nursing home placement and meet the program’s financial eligibility criteria. To be at risk of nursing home placement means that the applicant needs assistance with critical needs such as bathing, dressing, eating, taking medications and toileting. CHCPE helps clients continue living at home instead of going to a nursing home. Each applicant’s needs are reviewed to determine if he/she may remain at home with the help of home care services.

• Disability Services

  The Department administers programs which promote social, physical and economic well-being while providing people with disabilities with opportunities to achieve their full potential for self-direction. The Department works closely with an advisory council comprised primarily of people with disabilities which makes recommendations to improve the planning, development and administration of programs.
