The Judicial Review Council (JRC) investigates complaints about judicial misconduct involving:

  • Judges
  • Administrative law judges
  • Family support magistrates

If your situation involves one of these officials, you can file a complaint. If we find that judicial misconduct occurred, we may take action under State law.

Not every complaint should be filed with the Judicial Review Council. Before you file, find out whether we can review your complaint. We cannot change court decisions or remove judges from cases.

What to know before you file a complaint

Judicial misconduct happens when an administrative law judge or family support magistrate breaks conduct rules. This includes unfair conduct, a conflict of interest, or behavior that harms trust in the court process.
The JRC cannot change a court decision or affect the outcome of a case. We also cannot remove a judge from your case. If you disagree with a ruling, please contact your court and start the appeal process.

You must follow the filing requirements for the JRC to accept your complaint. The requirements include:

  • File within one year
  • Sign and notarize the complaint form
  • Mail the completed form

We do not accept online or in-person submissions.
